Woman accused of racist tram rant denies charge

A woman accused of racially abusing fellow passengers on a busy tram watched a film of her alleged rant when she appeared in the dock.Emma West, 34, appeared at Croydon Magistrates' Court charged with a racially aggravated public order offence. She cried as the three magistrates watched the footage, which has now been seen more than 11 million times online.Ms West pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody. The hearing was adjourned until later to give time for the defendant to prepare reasons for her not guilty plea.Ms West was arrested after the footage, filmed on a Croydon to Wimbledon tram, was posted on YouTube.
After watching the video on - http://liamobrien-wherediditallgowrong.blogspot.com/2011/12/racist-remarks-on-tram.html - I would love to know how this woman can plead not guilty. It is quite plain and simple - she has committed the crime of a racially aggravated public order offence. I think the 11 million people that have also seen this video would also agree with me - On this issue i would also like to say how appalling this woman's behaviour is. I would like to think that we are beyond this kind of behaviour in modern society but this is clearly a dream, honestly, i think this behaviour is disgusting.

The Energy Crisis

Here is the link that prompted this post http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-16029572

This i will always have an issue with. Complaining that nuclear power is unsafe and trying to prove this by breaking facilities. How does this prove that nuclear power as an energy solution is unsafe? Surely the only thing it possibly points out is whether or not security should be ramped up at these facilities. However, the security at EDF did say that they were monitoring the intruders the whole time and decided not to use force because they were not deemed as a real threat. Well i think that is reasonable. I can't see any sane person running into a nuclear reactor and trying to destroy the fuel rods or something to that extent. Especially the hypocritical Green peace groups out there today.

Now i can understand there are certain flaws with nuclear energy but what other cost effective solutions are there?

  • Wind power - overly expensive and inefficient, also unreliable (what if the wind does not blow)
  • Solar power - expensive and needs the sun to run
Now this is not to suggest that nuclear is the answer. But for now why can it not be part of the solution to the energy crisis? Why are so many people against it? Okay so there is occasionally a disaster attributed to a nuclear power station (no one mention Chernobyl), but personally I can not see that the UK can ever be run entirely on wind power and other renewable energy sources.
Personally, I believe that the best way to solve our energy crisis it to pump more money into research for better Geothermal plants and also for Nuclear Fusion.

Now we have all seen some of the bad uses for nuclear fusion. But why not spend more money on trying to make this a viable source of energy. If we could this alone could solve the global energy crisis, and for all the greenies out there, it would be clean.

NUS and Student Politics

Okay this post is about the incredibly left wing world of student politics.

At the NUS national conference 2011 i felt extremely marginalized. by this i mean everyone else who spokes view seemed to be incredibly left wing. Now this honestly is for one reason. Left wing people by nature are more active and tend to argue for their points more hence running for their positions in their unions. But why is it believed widely that all students by nature are Left wing. I sat in the audience at this conference and was called 'Right wing scum' and a 'Tory millionare' now these are incredibly rude but also totally against the right wing views. Now these statements received cheers from the mass audience and applause.
I think this shows the wrong side of student politics. Well i think most of the world of student politics is wrong right now because of pure bigotry and complete lack of understanding of compromise.
But really how can an organization such as the NUS expect to be taken seriously as a political body fighting for the rights of other students when it has no representation from a proportion of the student body. No one should feel like they are a minority and can not have their voice aired which a student like myself actually feels in the conference with Hundreds of other students. I thought it was part of the NUS's statute that no member may be discriminated against because of beliefs, views or creed. And it is a blatant violation of this statute when I am member and delegate walked back from giving a speech on a Motion for Censure on Mark Bergfeld and was told i was a w****r, had the middle finger put up at me and had someone try to trip me. Now i realize that this happened in April and i am not one to hold a grudge (well i am) but this should not be accepted in any political forum. Which is what the NUS is. I just felt appalled by this... And this is what people view students as... firstly apparently we are all exclusively left wing, well that is wrong... here i am a right wing student. I am for the cuts! I am for £9000 tuition fees!

Now away from slating the NUS for being one sided and not listening to right wing views, All students around the world are always said to be against austerity well i think it is high time that people listened to the views of students like me and especially politicians.

Jeremy Clarkson

So essentially according to the reports from the BBC we can say that 'more than 21,000' people in this country have no sense of humour.
BBC news as always not being impartial and being totally opposed to the stronger right twist the story and all we read is that Clarkson said "Frankly, I'd have them all shot. I would take them outside and execute them in front of their families. I mean, how dare they go on strike when they have these gilt-edged pensions that are going to be guaranteed while the rest of us have to work for a living?"

Well no he previously stated how much he liked the fact that they had gone on strike...

Seriously what is wrong with this country. How is it that big of an issue? Everyone knows Jeremy Clarkson has an incredibly Satirical sense of Humour.

This has gotten to the stage where our right to express our opinion is going to be revoked and we are all going to have to make sure before we talk nothing we say can offend another person. That is the reality of how pathetic this country is becoming with all this bollocks.

What need was there for him to apologies? All he should have said was GET A SENSE OF HUMOUR!
